Lily Lanfermeijer’s practice develops through sculptural installations that test how space can be activated through use. Rather than treating the studio as a site for representation, she is interested in what happens when a functional situation is temporarily introduced into an art context, and how this shifts attention, behaviour, and forms of contact.
Across her practice, Lanfermeijer has worked with materials that are often robust: wood, ceramics, textiles, print, and architectural elements, crafted by hand, machine, or mold. Objects frequently supported carried or framed one another, forming provisional constellations that remained open to change. Forms such as banners, toys, tables, or infrastructural elements recur as ways of structuring collective presence.
Her practice moves between considerations of the body, interior space, and architectural structures, without clearly separating these domains.
